The first thing that hits you about Conal Kelly’s latest single is the powerful, precise production. ‘Pyromaniac’ is layered beautifully, with deep synths playing off of breakbeat drum patterns and the vocalists distinctive, airy voice. The trippy track takes influence from the likes of Primal Scream and MGMT in its ethereal, electronic vibe and timeless melodies. “It was also super quick to write, the whole thing was done within 24 hours (writing, recording, mixing etc), so it came out very naturally,” he explains. “Bit of a push outside of my comfort zone sonically, but not an uncomfortable one.” Make sure to check out more of what emerges from the bedroom of this Bristol-based multi-instrumentalist. -Dan Peeke
